Nom Nom Nom, A Cookie Monster First Birthday

Hard to believe a year has come and gone already, but what better way to turn one then surrounded by friends, family, and lots of cookies!

If you haven’t figured it out already, Cookie Monster was the theme for this party and, as the little man loves his pancakes, I planned the celebration forΒ late-morning to serve a delicious, kid-friendly brunch menu! From mini-pancakes and cinnamon buns, to DIY yogurt parfait and a cereal bar. Then to top it off, some frootloop marshmallow treats, blue jello, cupcakes, cake and, of course, lots of cookies (and milk!)!

Cookie Monster First Birthday Brunch

#PartyTip – DIY Yogurt Parfaits are a great alternative to assembling individual parfaits… Not only can guests pick and choose their toppings, but leftovers are easy to pack up and re-use without a fridge full of parfaits! πŸ˜‰

The cereal bar was a hit, not only by the kids but for the “big kids” too, and you want to talk about something easy with minimal work… just grab a few jars, fill with cereal, add bowls, spoons and milk, and voila, done and ready! The cupcakes were just adorable, with the mix of mini cookie monsters with cookies and chocolate chip cookie topping. Then the cake…. one of my favorite, and most delicious, parts…. the chocolate cake, done up like Cookie Monster, had the most delicious layer of cookie dough filling!

The prep for the big day was lots of fun, between the “Nom Nom Nom”, “One” and other banners, Cookie Monster figurines, milk crates, and cookie Continue reading

LEGO Star Wars 4th Birthday Invitations, Food & Decorations

LEGO Star Wars 4th Birthday!

Isn’t it fun when the little ones hit an age where they pick their own birthday theme?! It was a tough choice between The Paw Patrol and Star Wars, but in the end the Storm Troopers won our little girls heart!

Ever since Miss L went on her daddy-daughter date to the new Star Wars movie it has been all the two of them talk about and needless to say when Star Wars was chosen as the birthday theme the hubby was beyond thrilled. It might have even been his suggestion to throw the LEGO twist on it!

We were debating long and hard on where to do the party: at home? an outside venue? indoor play ground? The possibilities were endless… But once we learned of Hero Tag at Laser City, which is a version of laser tag just for littler ones, we knew it was a perfect match! Continue reading

A Safari First Birthday & Elegant Baby&Co Shower

The new year has been busy busy and mother nature is teasing us with a few days of spring here and there between the snow and cold! Here are a few recent projects I was working on to kick the year off…

A Safari First Birthday

Baby&Co Baby Shower

By far one of my new favourite baby shower themes; too cute!

Sock Monkey Birthday

This past weekend was our beautiful little niece’s first birthday and I was honoured that my sister-in-law asked me to help with the decorations. This is one of the cutest party themes for little ones out there (at least in my opinion) and with her great ideas, it turned out absolutely amazing!

Here are a few pictures from the party; including a birthday banner, fortune cupcake wrapper, tent card …. and the popcorn cones were a hit! My personal favourite was the ‘I am One‘ banner and the tags on the old fashioned milk jugs for the milk and cookies!

Baby Minnie with Glitter

Tonights project is all about baby minnie, first birthday, and glitter! I think I may be a little too excited to see how everything comes out, from the mom’s love of glitter and the beautiful pastel pinks and yellows for baby minnie mouse, this promised to be full ofΒ adorable!

Here is the part I look the most forward to making… the cake topper! When she showed me the cake they had chosen and then just let me run with baby minnie and the pastel colours, all I could think was a cute little pendant banner was most definitely needed to frame in the centrepiece. So we went with that: an adorable little pendant banner to top off a one with baby minnie layered on pastel card stock and completed with glitter!

Now the fun begins…..

A Minnie Mouse Birthday

This weekend we celebrated Miss L’s 2nd Birthday in disney style with a Minnie Mouse Birthday!Β The celebration was wonderful, despite the weather not cooperating, and as always she was spoiled with gifts upon gifts! We will be spending the week reorganizing the play room to make room for all the new additions!

The Decor..

We stuck to the classics for colour scheme: red, yellow and black. Of coarse the stores were filled with pink minnie decorations, but that did not concern us, as the decorations were allΒ handmade! I enjoyed trying a few new techniques when making these decorations – like theΒ Minnie Mouse shaped invitations and then a few classic decorations – cupcake toppers, layered food labels and more.

As per every year, we made a scrapbook page guest book for everyone to sign and write little notes to the birthday girl! I like this tradition, as then every year I add this page to our scrapbook with a few party pictures, so we can look back on the birthday girl and see how she has grown through out the years!

The Food & Sweets…

We made all the food ourselves (with the help of our lovely family, ie. DAWZ Catering), from the hand cut mickey mouse cheese slices, tied veggie bundles, dips,Β and s’mores and strawberry cheesecake desserts! We were going with a β€œBBQ” theme for the food, with the main dish being Mickey shaped hamburgers and smokies! Then of coarse to top it all off, we had a candy bar!

The cake and the cupcakes were, as always, hand made by my amazing cousin (ie. The Cupcake Machine)!
