A Lake Wedding

One of the highlights of my summer…. the wedding at the lake, specifically my Uncle (and now officially) new Auntie’s wedding. It was a small gathering of friends and family, simple, low-key, and absolutely perfect!

Here’s a few of the pieces I put together… some banners, a few designs for guest book page and directional signage, and what not. I also had a chance to try something new with my Silhouette Came: heat transfer vinyl and made some Amigo pocket squares and loved how they turned out (definitely expect more htv projects in the near future). But my favourite part: Cupcakes in a Jar! I can only take credit for the labels and pushing the idea, but it turned out awesome (and delicious!). Which leads me to this… Continue reading “A Lake Wedding”

Sock Monkey Birthday

This past weekend was our beautiful little niece’s first birthday and I was honoured that my sister-in-law asked me to help with the decorations. This is one of the cutest party themes for little ones out there (at least in my opinion) and with her great ideas, it turned out absolutely amazing!

Here are a few pictures from the party; including a birthday banner, fortune cupcake wrapper, tent card …. and the popcorn cones were a hit! My personal favourite was the ‘I am One‘ banner and the tags on the old fashioned milk jugs for the milk and cookies!

A Baby Minnie First Birthday

Glitter everywhere, but the Baby Minnie First Birthday decorations are done and I can not get over how CUTE they turned out!

Baby Minnie with Glitter

Tonights project is all about baby minnie, first birthday, and glitter! I think I may be a little too excited to see how everything comes out, from the mom’s love of glitter and the beautiful pastel pinks and yellows for baby minnie mouse, this promised to be full of adorable!

Here is the part I look the most forward to making… the cake topper! When she showed me the cake they had chosen and then just let me run with baby minnie and the pastel colours, all I could think was a cute little pendant banner was most definitely needed to frame in the centrepiece. So we went with that: an adorable little pendant banner to top off a one with baby minnie layered on pastel card stock and completed with glitter!

Now the fun begins…..

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, New Fish!

A “Dr.Seuss” Baby Shower! This post is a little long over due (said baby may be over six months old now) – but nevertheless here it is!

The Decor …

The theme (in case you haven’t caught it yet) was Dr. Seuss, meaning our colours were red, blue, green, and yellow (and a few in between)! We didn’t go to crazy with decorations, they standard: balloons, streamers, etc. Then we did a few pieces, cupcake toppers, food labels, and Dr. Seuss book covers and characters. Once we had the balloons all filled with helium, we tied with coloured ribbons and attached Dr. Seuss character cut outs on the end of the strings and then spread the balloons throughout the room.

The Food & Sweets …

One of my favourite things we did here were the food and food labels! From the “Green Eggs & Ham” devilled eggs to the “Hop on Pop” popcorn bags! The food, as always, was all done by the mom of the family (i.e.. DAWZ Catering) and the Cupcakes by The Cupcake Machine!

Keep Calm & Marry On

It may be many months late, but here it is: the wedding post! I wrote these two notes below on the two mornings with the intent of posting them on my blog here that I had planned on starting many months ago, but as late as it is, here they finally are:

PART I – 8:00am, August 3rd
I can’t believe it – today is the day I get to marry by best friend, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day! Preparation the past few days went off with out a hitch and everything looks absolutely perfect! My prep is done and the rest is in the hands of some very capable and amazing friends and family! Can’t wait to walk down the aisle…. bring on the hair and makeup!
PART II – 8:00am, August 4th
Perfection is all I have to say about the day. It was absolutely perfect, every detail, every event, everything was perfect! I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day – it truly was my dream wedding! And the best part.. walking down the aisle and seeing all my friends and family there, so full of love and support (and a few tears), and the best part – seeing Dustin standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me…

The Theme & Decor…

It took us a while to decide on our theme, we flipped and flopped between many, and then we chose colours: orange & silver, and then the “theme” came.. crowns and “Keep Calm”.. that was going to be are starting ground and then we ran with it and made something of it even better then I could have ever imagined!

The Invitations…

We custom designed and made our wedding invitations (with some ‘labour’ from our great bridesmaids and groomsmen)! The first was our save the dates, and then a few months closer too the invitation which included, location/hotel information, itinerary for the big day, and RSVP cards.

The Wedding Decor…

We definitely stuck with the colour scheme here (orange and silver) from the orange table runners, silver centre pieces, orange head table back drop, and more. There were a few key items I would had listed as my “must haves” for the wedding, a tiered cupcake display and photo booth! And yes, we had them both and more! So let’s go through it piece by piece:

The Head Table…

The Guest Tables..

The guest tables were complete with orange table runners, custom favour boxes at each seat with custom M&M treats, and activity books/bags for the kids seats.

The Guest Book , Seating Chart & Entrance…

We decided on a puzzle for the guest book, everyone signed a piece of the puzzle. The entrance area was defined by many large columns and drapery. The guest book was another one of my favourite pieces, we found some old window panes which we attached together and than the table seating was written out on each pane.

The Cake/Cupcakes and More…

The Cupcakes were one of my favourite parts (though it seems I did have many, many favourite parts, but can you blame a girl?). All the cupcakes were done by my amazing cousin / bridesmaid, The Cupcake Machine!
